Beach Committee meeting announcement:

Dear Beach neighbors,

It's time to have a meeting to plan and parcel out the jobs, projects
etc., talk about some things and generally think about the summer.
I've spoken with Dawn, who will be the camp director and Richie is
coming back, so we have our Certification in place and can hire
others.  It's a ten week season, so i think hiring will have to be
creative to accommodate an endless summer.  We need to repair
things, mulch the path, seed the bald areas and garden, garden, garden.

Please invite anyone who might be interested in working with us and
let's meet at my house on Saturday, February 21st, at 11:00.  I don't
think it will be snowing that day.  Georgann

PS:   Inclement weather will postpone the meeting for one week and will be confirmed by email.

PPS:   If someone else would like to coordinate the activities of the
committee,please step forward!

I see four areas of activity to enhance and maintain the beach/lake environment.

these are:

Lifeguards - hiring, supervision contracts, t-shirts, whistles and safety equipment.

Capital Improvements -new lifeguard stand, picnic tables, play equipment and annoncement board.

Landscaping - planning the plantings, path and tree cuting/pruning

Cleaning and Maintenance - beach supplies, cleaning staff, "mowing and blowing"

One can volunteer for any or all of these areas. So far the Comittee has Chris Rietsch, John Bergherr, Michael Brown, Jeff Rossdale Judy Shulman, myself and several people who would like to work on various projects, but not "meet". I will be meeting with Drew to coordinate our maintenance needs and schedule, and I will be meeting with Joann Ehnes regarding playequipment. Drew has a catalog and we should all take a lok at the equipment at the ball field. Chris says he will meet with me to go over what needs to be done and give me details about hiring. I will try to schedule a meeting befor the end of November to see what we can do with respect to hiring and creating a liason to the health department, amoung other discussions. Please feel free to add to the discussion.

I can be reached at 9042 or georgann2@verizon.net.

Chris is the liaiason to the Board, I am, for now, the Coordinator. I look forward to working with you, to your ideas, energy and desire to have fun doing the work!

Georgann (Stewart-Stand)

Present: Michael Brown, Maggie Hayes, George Levites, Chris Rietsch, Eric Stand, Georgann Stewart (Ch)

Stewart reported on the status of hiring lifeguards. She will attend the BOH meeting in the Spring with the Camp Director, Dawn.

Committee discussed details of the budget and responsibilities of the committee.

Camp begins on June 30th and the ropes and rafts will be set on the weekend of 6/21 and 6/22 or the following weekend, 6/28 and 6/29 depending on lifeguard availability and weather. The rafts will be taken in on the last weekend of the summer, Labor Day Weekend.

Rietsch explained the Buddy Board procedures for camp and provided copies of all paperwork pertaining to this BOH requirement. Stewart will ask the BOH to recommend the type of wristbands that work best for younger children. (Band and band color denote level of swimming ability.)

Levites will be responsible for refilling the first aid kit and putting rubber gloves in the kit as well.

Rietsch has purchased a new boat the lake and Levites and Stand will repair the boat that is reported to leak. The new boat was budgeted in 2007, as were the volleyball winch and bike rack that were also purchased.

Play equipment will not be purchased until after the landscaping and storm water runoff projects have been completed.

Reitsch will get estimates for fence repair and new hand railing down to seating area. Garon is too expensive.

March 22 there will be a meeting at the lake at 11:00 to discuss how to redo the path from the door to the upper level. It’s important that Drew attend this meeting for his earthmoving technique and good ideas. The Locust tree in the “garden” has been added to the list, for tree removal by the community.

The Town of Lewisboro Highway supervisor will be invited by the Lake Committee to meet and discuss raising the road in front of the lake to redirect the runoff from the road that has eroded the path and changed the topography of the upper level where the path meet sit.

Can some of the chips from the tree project be used for the path to the road at the volleyball court?

April 5 The gardening portion of the landscaping will be discussed and begun. Some thinking is that community members might donate some of their flowers for the perennial beds.

During the summer the committee will meet frequently to discuss issues as they occur. The beach rules will be distributed to the community before the summer.

On duty lifeguards will be listed daily and where lifeguard shirts. Permanent rules will be posted at the entry to the lake. Trash cans will be marked clearly recycling by every one.
